Research progress on coal-mining subsided wetlands in China

Abstract: Coal-mining subsided wetlands are special kind of wetlands caused by mining activities formed in eastern, high ground-water area of China. Coal-mining subsided wetlands affect the sustainable development of coal cities due to its vast proportion and large quantities. Nowadays, ecological restoration and utilization of coal-mining subsided wetlands have drawn great attention of the society. The papter concluded the formation mechanism, features and spatial distribution of the coal-mining subsided wetlands; analysed the type features along with the governance modes. The paper also summarized the recovery of vegetation and soil environment, landscape planning and design andconstruction technology. At last, The paper discussed the core of the wetlands’ future development by current characteristics and conditions of Chinese coal-mining subsided wetlands.
